Un cri persan 4; 80 Contemporary Iranian Posters in Geneva

  •  -

    Poster “Un cri persan”, designed by Alain Le Quernec, 2008

Un cri persan 4 (Iranian Shout), in its fourth round of exhibition will be displayed for the first time in Switzerland, in Palexpo, Geneva (the International Hall of Books and the Press). The 22nd International Book, the Press and Media Fair (to be held from April 30 to May 4, 2008) will host the 5th Color and Werner Jeker, president of the 9th Tehran International Poster Biennial 2007. This exhibition is part of the 5th Color’s Poster Collection which has been selected under the supervisory management of Alain Le Quernec.

Jean Musy, president of Radio Zones FM and the senior secretary of the exhibition in Geneva, in the preface to the catalog has written: “The exhibition of the 80 Iranian posters which are going to be displayed on the occasion of the 22nd International Book, the Press and Media Fair in Geneva is to be held with the aid of the 5th Color. This group was founded in Tehran in 2001 by Majid Abbasi, Saed Meshki, Alireza Mostafazadeh and Bijan Sayfouri, four Iranian designers who were fond of making a collection of contemporary posters with the purpose of holding international exhibitions… Alain Le Quernec, the secretary of the exhibition, has been the first person who uncovered Iranian graphic design in the west and then displayed it successfully in Echirolles and Chaumont in France and then in La Louviere in Belgium.”

Alain Le Quernec in a different text points out: “The originality of Iranian graphic design lies in this fact... that it avails itself of contemporary research principles while retaining its deep culture. I can not see any artistic initiative comparable to Iranian graphic design in other Islamic countries. Iranian graphic design is an exception. This exhibition is up to letting you discover this truth.”

Un cri persan 4 is a selection of published posters of the two contemporary generations which, in its new form, differs from its preceding generations. The participating designers in this exhibition are as follows;

Majid Abbasi, Mohammad Reza Abdolai, Reza Abedini, Pouya Ahmadi, Morteza Akoochekian, Tahamtan Aminian, Homa Delvari, Maryam Enayati, Vahid Erfanian, Farhad Fouzoni, Amirali Ghasemi, Pedram Harby, Zeinab Izadyar, Behrad Javanbakht, Arya Kasai, Ali Khorshidpour, Morteza Mahallati, Mehdi Mahdian, Saed Meshki, Alireza Mostafazadeh, Masood Nejabati, Iman Raad, Mehdi Saeedi, Iman Safai, Narges Safai, Bijan Sayfouri, Tara Sehatzadeh, Kambiz Shafei, Zeinab Shahidi, Parisa Tashakori

A 112-page catalog in French and Persian has been published by the 5th Color with the help of Yassavoli Publications including three texts by the 5th Color, Alain Le Quernec and Jean Musy which will be available on the inauguration day of the exhibition.
