The Third Line’s first Iranian Film Series will start June 14th running every Saturday until July 5th.
It presents an introduction to contemporary Iranian cinema. Noted for striking combinations of poetry and realism, these films play between the boundary of fiction and reality, while at the same time employing a distinctively Iranian cinematic language. This series draws its title - Shahre Farang – from the name of unique version of traveling picture boxes that were common across the Middle East in the early 1900s. Often made from metal in the shape of elaborate castles, the boxes offered a series of views of moving pictures through a small opening.

Directed by Abbas Kiarostami, 2002. 92 min. Language: Farsi with English subtitles.
Renowned filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami explores the temporary stages of love and relationships through a film in ten episodes focusing on the intimate conversations of a young Iranian woman, Farideh, with her son and selected others to whom she gives rides in her car around the streets of Tehran. Ten was shot entirely with two mini-DV cameras attached to a dashboard.
Screenings are free and doors open at 7pm, with films starting promptly at 7:30. Seats are limited and on a strict advance RSVP only basis so that we can accommodate everyone comfortably and safely.
