Caracalla Dance Theater

The Lebanese Abdel-Halim Caracalla has tried to create a new language in dance with a style based on the amalgamation of the Western and Oriental, combining yesterday's heritage with today's techniques.

His creative contributions to the performances of his theater group involved all aspects from choreography, costume design, set design to music. He has given a strong emphasis to the visual aspects of his performances.

It is surprising that very little of his work is documented. His costume and set designs should undoubtedly become part of the Arabic cultural heritage, and would certainly inspire young Arabic designers. It is important that his work is preserved for future generations to experience. The creation of a well-documented book about his theater group should become an obligation for cultural organizations in the Arab world.

More information about the Caracalla Dance Theater can be found on their official website.
