Palestine, graffiti as peaceful act of resistance
reportage from the West Bank
Just back from a trip in the West Bank, where the wall became a sad occasion of making graphics...
It's a strange feeling what i felt while crossing the west bank, the claustrophobic separation wall made me feel like into a cage, i felt stupid to be there as a tourist, while thousands of people actually live in that area, facing everyday problems that i simply touched on.
So i simply feel like showing you some of the things i saw, in that horrible separation structure.
Nothing lasts forever...

fantastic photos
The photos are absolutely amazing. And they show that no matter how hard oppressors try, people will always find a way to resist and show their non-compliance. The defiant humour in the graffiti is wonderful. Turning the apartheid wall into a gallery is a wonderful act of appropriation...
Palestine your oceanic creativty
We can see real world of Palestine,
each images tell us more than 1000 words, minds...
Also an good news the Palestine calligraphy artist Ahmed Al Esmer win by the 1. arabic calligraphy festival and competitions in Algier/ Algeria may -june 09 1. place and award.
i can repeat the israeli editor Shulamit Aloni "this apartheid- raciscim pure - its a shame"
But we also knew "...kuli shey in fani...." one day we will see fall dawn of the wall like in Berlin...i saw it with my own eyes....
The photos give us hope
Turning this wall into a gallery is a great idea. Maybe that way the wall will bring a smile to the palestinian people and not stand there as a reminder of their imprisonment.
Thank you for the photos they're overwhelming, they tell a sad story but also manage to make us smile.

As long as it keeps the Palestinians from killing Israelis it is a great idea which was long overdue. It would be better to kick all disloyal Arabs from west of the Jordan River. Those who want to be loyal Israelis are welcome in Israel.
am i confused
wait wait wait... becuase palestinians did good graphitti artwork suddenly they are the victims?
Banksy
Most of this art is actually the work of the British graffiti artist Banksy. No one has mentioned him so far, so I thought I should
israel
i wish we didnt support israel with money and weapons, it isnt their land, they are the ones intruding.
just because everyone felt bad about the holocaust didnt give the world the right to take away a people land, and give it to someone else.
if anyone actually reads the Bible it contains several accounts of the israelites commiting mass genocide, because "God gave them the land" its bullshit.

We DONT want this to be an art gallery! we want it to be tore down. it is illegal and injust. the graffiti is their way of protesting peacefully...
Israel should be ashamed of itself.
Israel should be ashamed of itself. The next time you hear an Israeli or Zionist cry about World War Two, don't feel bad about bringing up the theft of Palestine.
hate only generates hate
We hope to generate understanding with design on this site and not equate one act of horror with another. No cause can justify injustice and the taking of innocent lives. We thank you in advance for not posting hateful comments on this site and links to offensive videos.
Art
One of the most beautiful things about art is that it can be manipulated for a cause. Remember Walt Disney's cartoons about WWII? What isn't written here are all of the offensive, hateful music videos put out by Arab artists. As a Jew, I've lived on the "other side" of the wall and can tell you that there is plenty of peace out there, but accompanied with that is plenty of war. Don't be fooled by Arab propaganda.
Oh, and if you're going to use the word "Palestinian", make sure you understand the word includes Jews who lived there before 1948. It doesn't just include Arabs.
it's such a shame
that it took thousands of deaths through suicide bombs (often aimed at the young and defenceless) for the Israelis to feel it necessary to build this wall ( this wall has stopped thousands more being murdered) and yet this wall now represents oppression? and creativity? ...ironic..if not twisted

for joyful/positive/hopeful thoughts ...
I think the photos are beautiful and have such a wonderful humor to them (quite remarkable considering the situation. gives me ideas... maybe w e should ask people to contribute suggestions /proposals of how to turn that awful prison wall into a gallery for joyful/positive/hopeful thoughts ... people everywhere could use some more love and happiness don't you think?
