Born in Cairo, Aida Eltorie is an independent practitioner of arts and cultural programs in Cairo and New York. Completing a curatorial internship at The Brooklyn Museum’s Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art (EASCFA) she is currently based in New York City working in Bidoun Magazine: Arts and Culture of the Middle East. Eltorie has been practicing arts and production management while working at the Townhouse Gallery as public relations and gallery consultant. She acquired skills as project coordinator collaborating with the visual arts program director and associate curators. She curated shows in Townhouse onSite, the Falaki Gallery and created collaborative projects between The Townhouse Gallery and The American University in Cairo, The International Museum of Women in San Francisco and Prohelvetia Swiss Arts Council. Since February 2006, Eltorie has become a board member of Arts Council Egypt (ACE), a new initiative founded by independent cultural centers across the city that have joined forces as private, non-governmental and non-profit institutions to attend to problems and create a support structure for the development of the contemporary arts in Egypt.
