A graphic designer and a photographer, Rasha Dakkak is a Palestinian born and raised in the UAE. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication from the College of Architecture, Art and Design at The American University of Sharjah. She has taken part in a number of group exhibitions and shows around the UAE. A thread or a general theme connects her work: The desire to shape a visual culture in a way that would best represent the Arab modern identity.

The table’s form is derived from a cross-sectional transformation of the Arabic word la (meaning refusal, denial or disbelief) into kalla (indicating strong disapproval, protest or objection). The concept is inspired by dissent expressed in the Arab world during the Arab Spring revolutions.
