Behrouz Hariri

Currently Behrouz is finishing his 5th year at York University/Sheridan Institute graduating with a Honours Bachelor of Design in May 2008. The series of exhibitions, lectures and workshops at York University are a result of his ongoing interest in bridging his learnings and experiences of two distinct educational and professional backgrounds together.

Born in 1984 and raised in Tehran, Iran, since 2002 he has studied and worked alternately between Tehran and Toronto. In 2005 he had the privilege to be a guest student in University of Tehran's School of Visual Communication, where he studied and worked under the leadership of renowned Iranian designers including Saed Meshki, Majid Abbasi, Alireza Mostafazadeh, Sedaghat Jabbari and Reza Adbedini.

Behrouz is a contributor to Tokyo based Ping Magazine and DesignTaxi. His 2006 article, Iranian Typography Now, is among the top 10 most discussed articles on Ping and was features in Icograda's newsletter. He has translated several articles to Farsi and published in Iranian newspapers. Currently he is preparing for a screening of the movie Helvetica in Farsi for the design community in Tehran. Recently a selection of his poster designs and other projects have been published along with an interview in Die Gestalten's highly anticipated book Arabesque, Graphic Design from the Arab World and Persia.
