Zeina Maasri is Associate Professor of Graphic Design at the American University of Beirut. She has been conducting research since 2004 on the political posters of Lebanon’s civil war. Her study will be published in the forthcoming book, Off the Wall: Political Posters of the Lebanese Civil War (London: I.B. Tauris, 2009). She curated the exhibition Signs of Conflict: Political Posters of Lebanon's Civil War in April 2008 within the framework of Beirut’s 4th edition of Homeworks: a forum on cultural practices.
Among her publications, she edited and art directed, with Anja Lutz, Greetings From Beirut (Shift! Berlin 2003), and co-edited Mapping Sitting: On Portraiture and Photography, a publication of the Arab Image Foundation and Mind the Gap (Beirut 2002).
Zeina is art director and member of the editorial board for Zawaya: A Periodical on Emerging Cultural Production in the Arab World. She was awarded “Un des plus beaux Livres Suisses 2005” (Most beautiful Swiss Books 2005) for the Book design (with Mathieu Christe) of: Territoire Méditerranée by ProHelvetia Fondation Suisse pour la Culture, (Geneva, Labor et Fides 2004).
