Lara Balaa

Graphic Designer

Visual Communication / Communication Research and Advice.

Holder of a BA in Graphic Design (American University of Beirut, 2002), I have professional experience in the fields of advertising (Memac Ogilvy & Mather), visual communication (as a freelancer), editorial design (Mohtaraf Beirut Graphics) and Arabic type design (Tarek Atrissi Design).

On freelance basis, I have collaborated with several cultural organizations including 'Umam D&R', 'Ashkal Alwan', 'Masrah Shams' and 'Masrah al-Madina'. I also collaborated with Tarek Atrissi Design on the board game 'Rahala/Explorers', and with Margherita Abi-Hanna on designing the pilot issue of 'Sowar' photojournalistic and documentary magazine.

In addition to which I have recently completed my master degree in International Communication Management (The Hague University, 2009), during which I focused my research on communicating with student groups, notably through formal and informal media networks.
