Today’s urban development projects raise numerous concerns with respect to identity, a sense of belonging, and myriad aspects of cultural sustainability. Art’s ability to engage a community’s sense of coherence lies at the core of this project, which looks at historic and contemporary functions of typography in the urban landscape. The Typographic Matchmaking in the City project aims to introduce a new approach to lettering and poetic narrative that would create an alternative public space, a new form of “physical” urban poetry.

The exhibition will present the design outcomes of the Typographic Matchmaking in the City project and will outline the design process with the drawings, writings, research and prototypes that have led to the final lettering systems and their application as concrete objects in the built environment. The results of the research of the five participating design teams, present a diverse range of engaging ideas and inspiring case studies.

The exhibition will also provide a platform for the screening of the documentary film about the project (on Sat 23 Oct & Sun 24 Oct).
