The adventure of the flute and the rope

a calligraphy and live music performance

This performance is an artistic dialogue between the calligraphist Khaled Al-Saai and the lute player Hames Bitar. Inspired by the Arab lute music being played, Al-Saai’s calligraphy creation process will be shown live over a big screen.

Khaled Al-Saai is one of the most relevant representatives of the Arabic pictorial calligraphy due to his refined and polished technique, his delicate chromatic and his Sufi inspiration of the topics.

Hames Bitar has taken part and collaborated in various groups of classical Arab music, Indian, fusion and flamenco. He has directed the recording of the disc Las Puertas del Oriente [Orient Doors] and he is the musical director of the company La Luna de Oriente [The Orient Moon].

The performance will take place at Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Madrid (c/ Alcalá, 62) at 19.30 and there is free entrance, prior collection of invitations.
