The Amman-based Syrian Calligrapher Mr. Saleh Nasab will be conducting a workshop on Arabic Calligraphy, for amateurs, fans and anyone interested in Arabic Calligraphy.

The main goals of the workshop

› To reflect upon the beauty of Arabic Lettering.
› To introduce the techniques of writing, tools and the materials related to calligraphy.
› To define the usages of Arabic Calligraphy as a modern art form, and the role of calligraphy in the contemporary art and design.
› To take a brief look at the development of calligraphy through history, and discuss proposed methods for future development.
› To study and experiment with the existing and extinct types of Arabic calligraphy.

About the workshop

The workshop will be divided into four sessions, each session is 2 hours long, including a short coffee-break. All sessions will be held on Saturdays only, the participants could chose one of the following times:
› Morning session: from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
› Afternoon session: from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Limited places! early booking is better. please call or send email to reserve a place. and don't forget to decide which time fits you more.

Every participant will be provided with all necessary tools and equipments; paper, inks & calligraphy pens for free. The workshop commences on Saturday 19th April 2008, and will go on every Saturday till 10th May 2008.

All the classes will be held at the Tree Hall, Wild Jordan Café
Fees: JD 50
