Within the framework of Beirut World Book Capital 2009, Metropolis Cinema is organizing, in collaboration with Samandal Magazine and Beirut DC an Animation Film Week at Metropolis Cinema.

• « Sita Sings the Blues » by Nina Paley – Crystal for Best feature film in Annecy International Film Festival 08 as well as a participation in more than 30 international festivals

• « Mary and Max » by the Oscar winning director of "Harvie Crumpet", Adam Elliot

• « Ponyo » latest film by Japanese animation mastermind Hayao Miyazaki

• « Mind Game » the cult adaptation from the eponymous manga by Robin Nishi

• International award winning short films

• Arab and Lebanese animation shorts

• Children screenings

• Screening of selected episodes from classic, Arabic-dubbed Japanese animation series like Grendizer, Jazirat al Kanz and Al Rajul Al Hadidi curated by Samandal
