Event:

Book Presentation of Piet Zwart and the Donation of the Rosbeek Printing Office

Book Presentation

7 Mar 2018

Seventy-five years ago, Piet Zwart, together with a large number of fellow citizens, was held hostage in the hostage camps in Haaren and Sint-Michielsgestel. Under those circumstances he made the drawings of wild vegetables and fruits at the time to illustrate a brochure that the Dietary Council wanted to distribute among the population during the war years.

In the Rosbeek printing office, the idea for a publication about the drawings from the war years remained 'on the shelf' for a while. The publication of this publication is based on the initiative of Jacques Peeters, former director of the St. Joost Academy in Breda and William Graatsma, former director of the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht and years of adviser and editor of the Rosbeek goodwill series. . 'Eighteen drawings of wild vegetables and fruits, 1942-1943' (Rosbeek Goodwill 59) was realized by means of the Graphic Culture Foundation.
