In the framework of Beirut World Capital of the Book, and with the support of the Danish Center for Culture and Development, 22 illustrators are coming together to create an illustration research room where they will collide, jam, and negotiate illustration, the result of which will be shown at the exhibit(s).

Illustrators from Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Egypt and Jordan will be presenting the result of a six-day collaboration.

Where? The Running Horse Contemporary Art Space in Beirut

Why is everyone in 1 box? The box will travel to other venues: mainly in public libraries in Lebanon

Two major concerns about illustration in Lebanon are tackled in the creation of this exhibition. The first one is to celebrate illustration in the space of the visual arts and give visibility to the processes of illustration through sketching, researching and experimentation. The second one is to challenge notions of illustration and go beyond current “publishable” approaches.
