Talk 1: Resisting Persistent Revision: Hyperbole & Analogy in Letters
By: Khajag Apelian
Designer of the award-winning typeface Arek, Apelian is a lettering, type and graphic designer based in Beirut. He currently operates under the name Debakir, Armenian for “printed type”, and teaches design at the American University of Beirut.

Talk 2: The Virtuous Circle Between Art & Innovation
By: Nicolas Ouchenir
Paris’ premier calligrapher for numerous leading fashion houses and luxury brands. With clients such as Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Christian Dior, Gucci, Miu Miu, Chloé and Cartier, Ouchenir creates original signatures and other customized designs that involve beautiful letters.

Talk 3: Unified Arabic: Distilled Modernism
By: Yara Khoury Nammour
Design director of Al Mohtaraf design house producing major corporate identities for the Arab world, corporate publications, books, magazines and Arabic typefaces. Winner of several awards in typography and book design.

Talk 4: Communication as Copy
By: Wael Morcos
Senior designer at Base Design in New York, Morcos is also a contributor to the Typographic Matchmaking project and winner of numerous design awards including: Print Magazine 15 under 30, Creative Review Annual, and Communication Arts Interactive Annual, 2015.
