Curator Sara Raza explains “Curatorially the exhibition’s title and premise re-appropriates the concept of a rhizome, the underground stem of a plant that shoots roots laterally as opposed to upwards, as a metaphor for the current generation of Saudi Arabia’s thriving art scene."

The Khatt Foundation is happy to support this exhibition and to collaborate with Edge of Arabia on their Project Amen Art Foundation (www.projectAAF.org), the first grass-root artist run art foundation for young Saudi artists. For the Amen Art Foundation's exhibit and presentation at the 55th Venice Art Biennale, Khatt is creating a participatory design research station (and blog) to help build the AAF's visual image.
